The 30th Graduation Ceremony of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics was a momentous occasion as Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited, delivered an inspiring keynote address. He called upon the graduating students to view challenges such as climate change, income inequality, and urbanization as opportunities for national growth.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 440 students, including 9 PhD holders, 113 undergraduate graduates, and 318 postgraduates in various programs, including Financial Economics. Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Dr. Ajit Ranade, Vice-Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute, commended the students’ accomplishments and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to India’s future.
Kirloskar also discussed the shifting global economic landscape, highlighting the trend of developed nations bringing manufacturing back to their territories and focusing on green technology jobs. He reassured the graduates that these changes should not significantly impact the Indian economy, as long as the nation’s youth actively engage in developing new models of sustainable growth.
He emphasized the crucial role that the graduates will play in tackling income inequality and promoting sustainable development, noting the need to address issues such as lack of digital literacy in rural areas and improving infrastructure and connectivity.
University leaders expressed confidence in the graduates’ abilities to address pressing societal issues and encouraged them to aim high and make a significant difference in shaping India’s economic and political systems.
