The Pimpri-Swargate metro line in Pune has quickly gained popularity among commuters, with a record-breaking 350,000 passengers using the service within the first five days of October. This route, spanning 17.5 kilometers and featuring 14 stations, offers fast and affordable travel, allowing passengers to reach their destinations in just 35 minutes for a fare of ₹30.

One of the key attractions of the metro line is the newly opened underground route connecting the District Court to Swargate. This 3.5 km stretch, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has streamlined travel and improved connectivity across the entire metro network.

The surge in passenger numbers has been significant, with over 71,500 passengers traveling on the Pimpri to District Court route on September 30 alone. The metro has also seen a steady increase in revenue, generating ₹5.6 million in the first week of October.

To accommodate the growing demand, the metro administration has announced plans to increase the frequency of trains during peak hours on both the PCMC to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi routes. Trains will now operate every 10 minutes during off-peak hours and every seven minutes during peak times.

The success of the Pimpri-Swargate metro line underscores the need for efficient public transportation in Pune, offering commuters a reliable and convenient mode of travel.
