Working women in Pune have a reason to rejoice as MLA Madhuri Misal has launched the ‘Stree Shakti Punyachi’ initiative to address their daily struggles. According to a recent survey conducted by the MLA, the lack of adequate public washrooms was identified as the primary concern by over 90% of women in the city. Other issues raised included the need for better street lighting, self-defense training, and the availability of sanitary pad vending machines.
In response to these findings, MLA Misal has announced a plan to construct 100 public toilets for women across Pune. These washrooms will not only provide clean and safe restroom facilities but will also be equipped with sanitary pad vending machines and baby-feeding centers to cater to the diverse needs of women on the go.
During a recent press conference, MLA Misal stressed the importance of ensuring that women in Pune have easy access to washrooms. She has initiated discussions with key stakeholders, including the Pune Municipal Corporation, the District Collector, and the State Government, to secure land parcels for the project.
The ‘Stree Shakti Punyachi’ initiative is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for women in Pune, offering them greater convenience, safety, and dignity as they go about their daily routines outside their homes.
