Hey Pune, it seems like vehicle theft is on the rise in our city! In the past two days alone, a total of 11 two-wheelers and two rickshaws have been reported stolen from various areas including Chandannagar, Chaturshringi, Swargate, Sinhagad Road, Lonikand, and Hadapsar. And with the festive season in full swing, it looks like thieves are taking advantage of the chaos.

It’s not just two-wheelers that are being targeted though. Cars, rickshaws, and even tempos are also being stolen. On average, about four to five vehicles are being stolen every day in Pune, with two-wheelers being the most popular choice for thieves. They seem to be targeting vehicles parked in front of residential societies, schools, and businesses.

Recently, a two-wheeler parked in front of Yashada Abhyasika in Dhayari Phata was stolen, leading Kiran Kadam to file a complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station. Another incident occurred in Chaturshringi, where Rahul Galande reported his two-wheeler stolen from near Primrose Society.

In the Pashan area, two separate cases of two-wheeler theft were reported at Chaturshringi Police Station. And in Chandannagar, a rickshaw parked in front of Venkatesh Hostel and another left for repairs at a local garage on the Kharadi bypass were also stolen.

Other incidents of two-wheeler theft were reported from Sahakarnagar, Sinhagad Road canal areas, and Kavade Wasti in Wagholi. Thieves have also been breaking into vehicles in different parts of the city. In the Tilak Road area, a laptop was stolen after a car window was smashed, while in the Seven Loves Chowk area on Shankarsheth Road, a laptop and documents were taken from a vehicle.

It’s definitely a worrying trend, so make sure to take extra precautions to secure your vehicles, Pune!
