Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had some strong words for the police officials in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad during his visit yesterday. He warned them about the consequences of withholding information on sensitive cases, stating that anyone caught doing so would be dismissed from their duties.

Fadnavis highlighted the increase in crimes against women, POCSO cases, and drug-related crimes in Maharashtra, emphasizing the importance of taking immediate action and not suppressing such cases. He stressed that hiding such information could lead to even greater problems down the line.

The Deputy Chief Minister also spoke about the need for better efforts in apprehending criminals involved in serious crimes, citing the recent Bopdev Ghat gang rape case as an example. To aid in this effort, he announced the integration of AI technology into CCTV systems, allowing cameras to identify criminals even if they change their appearance. This technology will also be beneficial for traffic management.

Fadnavis revealed plans to utilize advanced drone cameras for monitoring events like Ganesh Visarjan processions, political marches, and protests. These measures are aimed at enhancing security and ensuring a safer environment for the residents of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
