Hey Pune folks, here’s the latest scoop for you – jeweller Satish Punjabi has been granted bail in connection with a locker theft at Punjab National Bank (PNB). The theft involved gold, diamond, and silver ornaments worth over ₹2.78 crore and had multiple accused involved. But hold up, Punjabi was not part of the illegal opening of the locker or the theft itself. Additional Sessions Judge S.R. Salunkhe made it clear that Punjabi was just dealing with the gold in good faith.
Punjabi got bail on a personal bond of ₹30,000 and a surety of the same amount. His legal counsel emphasized that he followed all the proper procedures and was just doing his job as a jeweller. The court recognized that his role was peripheral and he had no malicious intent.
The whole case revolves around lockers at the Punjab National Bank in Pune’s Camp area. Accused Surender Shahani tried to open a locker that wasn’t his using his wife’s key, who was a PNB employee. Shahani, along with Nayana Ajwani, allegedly conspired to open the locker and stole the valuables. When the complainant found out, he filed an FIR.
So, it seems like Punjabi got caught up in some messy business, but he’s out on bail and ready to cooperate with the investigation. Let’s see how this story unfolds!
