Baner, a bustling suburb in Pune, witnessed yet another disturbing incident on Sunday evening. A young man and his female friend were brutally attacked and robbed while taking a leisurely stroll on Baner Hill. This comes just ten days after a student from Northeast India faced a similar fate at the same location.
The victim, a 36-year-old man from Aundh, was left reeling after the robbers made off with items worth ₹51,000, including his mobile phone. The assailants, four young men armed with sharp weapons, pounced on the unsuspecting couple and proceeded to beat them before snatching their belongings.
In a bid to seek justice, the victim wasted no time in lodging a complaint at the Chaturshringi Police Station. Prompt action was taken by the authorities, with Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuja Deshmane and Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi visiting the crime scene. The investigation is currently being spearheaded by Sub-Inspector Praveen Chaugle.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened security measures in public spaces. It is imperative that law enforcement agencies take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors in Baner. The community must come together to condemn such acts of violence and work towards creating a safer environment for all.
