In a shocking turn of events, a gang in Shikrapur has been using dating apps to lure unsuspecting victims, only to kidnap and rob them. The Pune Rural Police Force has arrested three individuals – Sushant Popat Nagare, Mayur Raju Gaikwad, and Shreyas Bhausaheb Angare – in connection with these crimes.
The gang’s modus operandi involved approaching strangers under the guise of asking for directions to Mumbai. Once the victim was caught off guard, they would forcibly abduct them, steal their belongings, and in some cases, even take photos to extort money from them later.
Fortunately, one victim managed to escape and report the incident to the Shikrapur Police Station. Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh wasted no time in instructing the Local Crime Branch to investigate. Through diligent analysis of CCTV footage, the LCB was able to track down the suspects to Ahmednagar, leading to their arrest and the recovery of the vehicle used in the crime.
It was revealed during interrogation that the gang had committed similar offences in the past, with four incidents reported in total. The accused have a history of violence, and the Pune Rural Police are urging anyone who may have fallen victim to come forward and report their experiences.
The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopade, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prashant Dhole. The team from the LCB and Shikrapur Police Station, led by Police Inspectors Avinash Shilimkar and Deepratna Gaikwad, played a crucial role in apprehending the suspects.
