Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! As the Maharashtra assembly elections draw near, the state government is pulling out all the stops to win over voters. And guess what? Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol just had a pow-wow with Union Minister for Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy to discuss adding a whopping 1,000 electric buses to Pune’s public transportation fleet.
With the metro expansion project in full swing, Mohol stressed the importance of beefing up the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) services. The nitty-gritty of acquiring these new e-buses was hashed out, covering everything from the current bus count in Pune to future needs. And you know what? Minister Kumaraswamy wasted no time in telling his peeps to get cracking on this proposal.
Taking to Twitter, Mohol couldn’t help but sing praises for the Modi government’s efforts in Pune since 2014. Thanks to PM Modi’s vision, the Pune Metro has become a reality, with new lines popping up left and right. And get this – plans are in the works for even more metro phases from Khadakwasla to Kharadi and Nalstop to Manikbagh.
Speaking of the Pune Metro, Mohol highlighted how the Modi government has already gifted the city with 450 e-buses. The cherry on top? The proposed addition of 1,000 more e-buses will supercharge PMPML’s capacity, making public transport in Pune a breeze for residents.
Fingers crossed that this proposal gets the green light soon, paving the way for a brighter transportation future for Pune. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
