The tragic case of a 27-year-old man from Chakan, Pune, who died by suicide in Lonavala due to a love affair has recently been brought to light. Suryakant Ramdayal Prajapati’s body was found in a 370-foot-deep ravine on Wednesday, seven days after he went missing.
Before his death, Suryakant recorded a two-second video and sent it to a mobile phone kept at home. With the help of the police, the Shivdurg team used this video and its location to search for his body.
It was revealed that Suryakant Prajapati was in a relationship with a girl in Chakan. However, he suspected that his girlfriend was cheating on him with another man and left home on 9th October. When he did not return the following day, his family filed a missing person report at the Chakan police station.
Through a technical investigation, the police determined that Suryakant’s last known location was Lonavala. Both the Chakan Police and Lonavala Police conducted a search in the area, despite facing challenges due to heavy rain in Lonavala at the time.
Suryakant recorded a selfie video just before taking his own life, with the greenery and valley behind him clearly visible. He had placed his second mobile phone at home and sent the video to it, leading authorities to understand that the video was filmed at Rajmachi Valley. This prompted a renewed search operation on Wednesday morning.
Suryakant’s mobile phone was found a few feet away in the valley, and as the rescue team descended further, they detected the smell of a decomposing body, indicating they were close to finding him. His body was eventually located approximately 370 feet down in the Rajmachi Valley after a week-long search.
