Residents in areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will have to deal with water cuts on Friday, May 24th, as the PMC carries out planned maintenance activities. The water supply is expected to be restored at low pressure on Saturday morning, according to a press release issued by the PMC on Tuesday.
Maintenance activities will be taking place at key pumping stations such as Wadgaon, Warje, Pune Cantonment, SNDT, Parvati, Bhama Askhed, and New Holkar Bridge. These repairs and electrical maintenance are essential for the long-term efficiency and reliability of the city’s water supply system, which is why the temporary interruption in water service is necessary.
The head of PMC’s water supply department emphasized that these works are part of regular maintenance and not a decision to implement cuts for better water management during the summer season. A meeting with the irrigation department in June will be held to assess water availability and the impending monsoon arrival.
Residents are advised to prepare for the water cut by storing enough water for their needs during the maintenance period. The PMC has assured that water supply will gradually return to normal by Saturday morning.
