Hey there, Pune residents! If you’ve been noticing a crackdown on unruly drivers in the city lately, you’re not imagining things. The traffic police have kicked things up a notch by enforcing a ban on heavy vehicles during rush hours. But that’s not all – they’re also targeting triple seating, drunk driving, and drivers going in the wrong direction.

In just the past 15 days, over 25,000 motorists have faced consequences for their actions, with more than 200 vehicles being confiscated. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar means business, warning that driving in the opposite direction could lead to your vehicle being impounded for a whopping six months.

With rush hour traffic on the rise, accidents have been increasing due to violations of traffic rules. Apparently, more drivers are going against the flow of traffic. To combat this dangerous trend, the Traffic Branch has launched a full-on campaign against these reckless drivers. In fact, over 200 vehicles have been impounded in just the last two weeks.

Commissioner Kumar pointed out that ongoing construction and development projects are contributing to the chaos on the roads, especially during peak hours. That’s why heavy vehicles have been banned during the busiest times of the day, and the traffic police are not messing around when it comes to enforcement.

Here are some numbers to give you an idea of the actions taken against unruly drivers from October 1st to October 16th:
– Driving in the Opposite Direction: 21,285
– Triple Seating Violations: 2,872
– Drunk Driving Offenses: 570
– Impounded Vehicles: 215

So, if you’re out on the roads in Pune, make sure you’re following the rules and staying safe. The traffic police are watching, and they’re not afraid to take action against those who put others at risk. Stay safe out there!
