Satyaki Savarkar, the grandson of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, is not taking derogatory remarks about his grandfather lightly. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao is in hot water after making controversial comments about Savarkar, claiming that he was not against cow slaughter and had fundamentalist views.
In response, Savarkar has issued a notice to Rao demanding a public apology within 15 days, or else legal action will be taken against him. The remarks were made at a book launch event in Karnataka where Gundu Rao compared Savarkar to Mahatma Gandhi and Mohammad Ali Jinnah, which has outraged Savarkar’s supporters.
This is not the only legal action that Satyaki Savarkar has taken recently. He has also filed a suit against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for insulting remarks made at a non-resident Indians program in London. A case has been registered against Gandhi at the Vishram Baug police station in Pune.
It seems that in the world of politics and freedom fighters, words can have serious consequences. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
