With Diwali just around the corner, Pune is bustling with shoppers making their way to the markets in central Pune. To prevent traffic congestion and chaos on the roads, the city’s traffic police have put in place temporary restrictions.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amol Zende, has announced a ban on four-wheeled vehicles on Shivaji Road until November 5. This decision comes as a response to the frequent traffic jams caused by cars parked on the roadside.
To help manage the flow of traffic effectively, several diversions and route changes have been implemented. For instance, vehicles traveling from Shivajinagar via Shivaji Road are being redirected from Sadashiv Govind Barve Chowk. Similarly, those heading from Swargate on Bajirao Road towards Shivajinagar via Puram Chowk are advised to take a left turn at Puram Chowk to reach their destination via Tilak Road.
Moreover, traffic closures have been put in place from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk and from Shanipar Chowk and Kumthekar Road to Mandai. In such cases, drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Bajirao Road to access their desired locations.
For those planning to visit popular shopping areas like Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, and Lakshmi Road, designated parking facilities such as Babu Genu Parking, Misal Parking, and Sane Parking are available. These arrangements aim to make the shopping experience more convenient for everyone during the festive season.
By implementing these traffic restrictions and providing alternative routes, authorities are working towards ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable shopping experience for Pune residents and visitors alike. So, shop till you drop this Diwali season, and don’t forget to follow the traffic rules to make the festive period a safe and enjoyable one!
