The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by Ajit Pawar has announced their candidate for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Sitting MLA Sunil Tingre has been nominated to represent the Vadgaonsheri constituency, putting an end to the speculation surrounding the Mahayuti alliance’s candidate in the area.

Tingre, a former Corporator who won the 2019 elections under the NCP banner, has now aligned himself with the Ajit Pawar faction after the party split. This faction is now part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde), and NCP (led by Ajit Pawar).

Despite facing criticism, particularly after the Porsche case which tarnished his reputation on social media, Tingre is still seen as a popular choice among voters. He is known for his accessibility and grassroots efforts, as well as his work on various infrastructure projects.

In a surprising turn of events, former MLA Jagdish Mulik, who had been actively campaigning for a BJP ticket, was not chosen as the candidate for the Vadgaonsheri constituency.
