Fake Doctor Busted in Pune: Beware of Unqualified Medical Practitioners!
In a shocking turn of events, a fake doctor has been exposed in Pune for practicing medicine without a valid medical degree. The accused, Pandurang Babanrao Devadkar, 40, was caught red-handed by authorities for examining patients and prescribing medication based solely on pulse checks.
Dr. Gopal Ujwankar, 38, filed a complaint against Devadkar, leading to the registration of a case under Section 33(1) of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 1961. Police Sub-Inspector Khade is currently heading the investigation into this fraudulent activity.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident in Pune. Just recently, Mehmood Farooq Shaikh was arrested in Koregaon for treating patients under a false identity with a fake medical degree. Similarly, Mahesh Patil was caught operating a hospital under an alias, adding to the growing list of fake doctors in the city.
Even individuals with prior medical experience are not immune to the temptation of posing as doctors without proper qualifications. Ramakrishna Reddy, a retired assistant from the surgery department, set up a clinic in Mundhwa using a questionable certificate from an association in Uttar Pradesh.
The issue of unqualified individuals passing off as medical professionals is a serious concern in Pune. Several other fake doctors, including Torane in Loni Kalbhor and Totaya in Warje, have been arrested in recent times. To combat this dangerous trend, authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious medical practices.
