Hey folks, it’s time to keep those umbrellas handy because Pune is gearing up for some much-needed rainfall during the Diwali festival! The weather has been dry lately, but thanks to Cyclone Dana making its presence felt on the Odisha coast, moisture is moving westward towards Maharashtra.

Even though the monsoon has officially bid adieu, we’ve still been experiencing some unexpected showers in the first weeks of October. The combination of low-pressure systems in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal kept the rain coming. But now, as we head into the end of the month, temperatures are on the rise, giving us a taste of that “October heat.”

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), we can expect some rain from the 29th to the 31st of October. A yellow alert has been issued for various districts, including Pune, Raigad, Satara, and more, with light to moderate rainfall expected. And on Halloween, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Wardha are also on alert for some wet weather.

With the recent dry spell, dust levels have been on the rise, so be prepared for some potential air quality issues during Diwali, especially with the added pollution from fireworks. Stay safe, stay dry, and enjoy the festive season ahead!
