Hey there folks, big news coming out of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) in Pune! Looks like there’s been some drama surrounding the dismissal of former director, Rajiv Ranade. Turns out, a fact-finding committee report questioned his qualifications, saying he didn’t have the required ten years of experience as a professor according to the UGC. Ranade wasn’t having it though, and decided to challenge his dismissal in court.
But wait, there’s more! The new chancellor, Sanyal, who just took over in October, decided to reverse the termination order for another former director, Debroy. He mentioned something about due process and the institute’s reputation being important. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any crazier, Sanyal has now accepted Ranade’s resignation and informed the UGC about it.
So, what’s next for GIPE? With Ranade out of the picture, they’re on the hunt for some new leadership. Sanyal is expected to make some announcements soon about who will be taking over in the interim. Stay tuned for more updates on this juicy saga at GIPE!
