Hey Pune folks, get ready to vote! The distribution of voter slips for the Maharashtra assembly elections is kicking off today. District Collector Suhas Diwase shared that they’re starting early this time to make sure everyone knows where to cast their vote on November 20.

Pune district has a whopping 88.49 lakh registered voters, the highest in the state. That’s why they’re getting a head start on distributing voter slips. Normally, they go out just five days before the election, but Pune’s size and population mean they need more time to reach everyone.

They’re starting with rural areas first, then moving on to the city. Helpdesks at ward offices will be there to assist anyone who needs help finding their polling booth. This early distribution is meant to avoid the confusion some voters faced during the last Lok Sabha elections.

Low voter turnout in Pune Cantonment and Shivajinagar has caught the Election Commission of India’s attention. They’re working on strategies to get more people out to vote in these areas during the upcoming assembly elections. Let’s make our voices heard, Pune!
