The convergence of heavy rainfall, ongoing flyover construction, and burgeoning traffic created chaos on Ganeshkhind Road in Pune. Commuters were left stranded and roads congested for hours, as the morning deluge worsened road conditions. Potholes and exposed drainage covers made driving perilous, requiring caution from motorists.

The ambitious infrastructure projects on Ganeshkhind Road, including a multi-storied flyover and metro undertaking, added to the traffic gridlock. Road widening initiatives further narrowed thoroughfares, exacerbating congestion for commuters. Authorities rerouted vehicles from Aundh and Baner through alternative routes, but this only shifted the bottleneck and led to longer commute times.

The inclement weather saw a surge in four-wheeler usage, worsening congestion on already overwhelmed roads. Citizens expressed frustration over the timing of development projects and urged authorities to exercise prudence, especially during the monsoon season. With traffic queues stretching for kilometers and delays plaguing University Road, improved coordination and foresight are needed during adverse conditions.

Chaturshringi Traffic Branch Police Inspector Shafique Pathan acknowledged the challenges, attributing part of the congestion to ongoing construction activities near Savitribai Phule Pune University. He reassured that traffic gradually eased as the day progressed.
