The PCMC officials, including Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate and Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, recently participated in a walkathon to promote voter awareness. The event saw a diverse group of participants, including senior citizens, women, youth, former soldiers, and new voters, engaging in discussions on the importance of voting in the upcoming election.
Groups using the open gym facilities and practicing yoga at the event pledged to encourage others in their communities to vote. Former soldiers in attendance expressed their strong support for voting, connecting it to their dedication to serving the country.
In addition to the walkathon, PCMC organized cultural programs to further promote voter awareness. The performances included patriotic songs by children, dance routines, and a street play highlighting the significance of voting. Singer Ganesh Londhe also took the stage to encourage citizens to exercise their voting rights. Towards the end of the event, attendees took an oath to vote in the upcoming election.
Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate emphasized that PCMC’s SVEEP initiative aims to boost voter turnout in Pimpri, Bhosari, and Chinchwad constituencies. The campaign will involve active participation from women’s self-help groups, senior citizen organizations, and PCMC’s social development department to reach voters at the grassroots level.
Overall, the event was a success in spreading awareness about the importance of voting and encouraging citizens to actively participate in the democratic process.
