Hey there, Pune commuters! If you’re a regular rider on PMPML buses, you might want to keep an eye out for some changes in the coming days. The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) is facing a revenue decline, and they’re cracking down on ways to boost their income.

With a fleet of 1,650 buses and over 11 lakh passengers daily, PMPML is a major player in the public transportation scene in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and PMRDA regions. However, their average daily income of ₹1.5 crore is taking a hit, and they’re not taking it lightly.

Bus conductors, drivers, and depot heads have been instructed to step up their game when it comes to increasing revenue. If certain routes consistently fall short of expectations, they’ll have to answer to the Chief Transport Manager. And if negligence from drivers or conductors is to blame for a significant drop in income, administrative actions may be on the horizon.

Even the usually lucrative long-distance routes are facing a dip in earnings, causing concern for PMPML’s Chairman. Transport Manager Satish Gavane is calling on all employees to make revenue growth a top priority.

Depot heads will now have to personally check in with drivers and conductors when earnings are below par, seeking explanations and suggestions on how to turn things around. And by the 10th of each month, a report on underperforming routes and any actions taken will be due.

So, if you’re a PMPML employee, get ready to hustle for those fares. And if you’re a passenger, keep an eye out for improvements in service as PMPML works to get back on track financially.
