As the upcoming elections draw near, Pune is abuzz with efforts to increase voter turnout among its citizens. Various organizations such as Pune Nagrik Manch, CREDAI, Art of Living, and several others have come together to address the issue of voter apathy and encourage more people to participate in the democratic process.
At a recent press conference, representatives from these organizations discussed their plans to raise awareness about the importance of voting. Vishal Nalkare from Pune Nagrik Manch emphasized the significance of Pune as a city and the need for collective action to combat voter apathy. Suhas Patwardhan from the Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation shared efforts to increase senior citizen voting in housing societies, including appointing cooperation friends and utilizing social media.
Dhruv Ruparel, president of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, announced a special incentive for voters on November 20 – a discount on engine oil purchases at member pumps. Ganesh Shetty from the Pune Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association revealed that voters will receive a 10% discount on food at member establishments on voting day.
The Art of Living Pune and Pune Hotels Association have also joined the initiative, with plans to reach out to their members and offer discounts to voters. Credai Pune Metro has pledged their support as well, aiming to reach a wide audience and encourage voter participation.
These organizations are implementing various strategies such as setting up selfie points at voting locations and organizing poster competitions to engage citizens. The message is clear – it’s time for the people of Pune to actively participate in the democratic process and make their voices heard.
