With 950 teachers and 5 lakh members, The Art of Living Pune is on a mission to reach 40 lakh people through social media. The Pune Hotels Association president, Amit Kumar Sharma, has announced a 10% discount across all 74 member hotels in Pune, with staff members pledging to vote. Meanwhile, CREDAI Pune Metro, under the leadership of President Ranjeet Naiknavare, is gearing up to engage with 500 members, 50,000 employees, and their extensive customer base.
Various groups such as senior citizen groups, women’s groups, laughter clubs, and housing societies are also joining the campaign to increase voter turnout. Efforts have been ongoing for three months to encourage senior citizens to vote in cooperative housing societies, as mentioned by Suhas Patwardhan from the Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation.
To create excitement around voting, these organizations are setting up selfie points at voting locations, establishing war rooms at the society level, and organizing poster competitions. Citizens of Pune are encouraged to actively participate in this democratic festival.
Through these collective efforts, Pune aims to combat the recent apathy towards voting and boost voter turnout. The question remains: will these initiatives make a difference? Only time will reveal the impact of these efforts.
