Alright folks, buckle up for a wild ride because the Pimpri Chinchwad Cyber Police Station is cracking down on some serious cyber fraudsters. A recent complaint led to the registration of an FIR, charging the suspects with fraud under various sections of the Information Technology Act. Commissioner of Police Vinaykumar Choubey wasted no time in ordering a thorough investigation, with Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode and Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Vishal Hire leading the charge.
The investigation took an interesting turn when officers tracked one of the fraudulent bank accounts to a delivery company employee in Wagholi. This employee spilled the beans, revealing that he had opened the account under instructions from suspects Avinash Baklikar and Satish More. The police then traced Baklikar to Lonavala, where he and his accomplices were using fake identities to stay at various hotels and villas.
The suspects, identified as Avinash Dnyanoba Baklikar, Adab Rupam Sheikh, and Satish Bhagwan More, were finally nabbed after a thorough search of over 1,000 villas in the area. The police seized a treasure trove of evidence from the suspects, including mobile phones, bank account kits, and cash. It was revealed that Baklikar was operating as part of an international cybercrime syndicate, supplying bank accounts to criminals in Nepal and China.
Further investigations uncovered links to an international cybercrime network based in Kathmandu, Nepal, as well as connections to users of D.K. Makabaka and Candy Company platforms in China. Baklikar was allegedly charging a hefty sum for each account kit provided, receiving payments in cryptocurrency through the Binance platform. Sheikh, alias Maddie, had been sent to Maharashtra to monitor account transactions, while More handled the finances for Baklikar.
The authorities have issued a public advisory, urging citizens to be cautious when investing in the stock market and to verify the legitimacy of investment platforms before making any transfers. Stay safe out there, folks, and watch out for any suspicious activity.
