Residents in rural areas of Pune are on edge due to the increasing nighttime drone activity, prompting the Pune Rural Police to take action. Reports of drones flying at night have been circulating on social media, causing concern among the local population.

In response to these reports, the police are submitting a proposal to acquire “anti-drone guns” to combat the unauthorized drone flights. Residents in eastern parts of Pune district, including the Khalad area of Purandar, have reported sightings of drones flying at night, raising alarm among the community.

To address this issue, the Pune Rural Police have undergone specialized training on how to operate the anti-drone guns effectively. These tools are designed to disable unauthorized drones and prevent them from operating illegally in the region. Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh emphasized the importance of empowering the police to swiftly respond to errant drones.

The proposal to acquire two anti-drone guns from a private company will be presented to the Pune District Planning Committee. The police hope that this initiative will enhance their capabilities in dealing with the growing threat posed by nighttime drone activities.

While investigating these incidents, the police have urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information about the drones. By fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community, the Pune Rural Police aim to ensure the safety and security of residents amidst the challenges posed by advancing technology.
