Hey Pune folks, it looks like the PMC is cracking down on helmet usage for its employees and officers who ride two-wheelers. Starting now, everyone must wear a helmet while on PMC premises or at ward offices. No helmet, no entry – it’s as simple as that.

With road accidents on the rise, especially involving two-wheelers, it’s crucial to enforce helmet usage. Despite the high number of two-wheelers in Pune, compliance with helmet rules has been pretty low. To combat this issue, the city has set up CCTV cameras to catch those who aren’t wearing helmets.

State efforts to reduce road fatalities have also played a role in this decision. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar mandated helmets for all government employees, leading the PMC to follow suit.

If PMC employees are caught without helmets, they’ll face penalties like fines and marks on their service records. Department heads are responsible for making sure their teams follow this new rule.

Let’s all stay safe on the roads, Pune! Wear your helmet and avoid those unnecessary risks.
