Pune was hit with a deluge yesterday, with the city experiencing a whopping 209.2 mm of rain in just 24 hours. This is a staggering 64% of the normal June rainfall, surpassing the average monthly quota of 184 mm. In fact, Pune has already seen 315.4 mm of rain this year, which is 41.3% of its yearly quota, and it’s only the beginning of the monsoon season.

Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, a weather expert, predicted that the rain will continue, with moderate to heavy showers expected today. The monsoon has made its way further into Maharashtra, covering regions like Mumbai and Pune. Vineet Kumar Singh, a research scientist, tweeted that while today’s rain may be less intense than yesterday, heavy downpours are still on the horizon.

The rainfall has brought both relief and challenges for Pune residents, with authorities advising everyone to stay cautious and prepared for the rest of the monsoon season.
