Chinchwad, 16th November 2024: Today, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari visited Pimpri Chinchwad as part of a campaign for Mahayuti’s candidate Shankar Jagtap from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Chinchwad Constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. During the campaign, Gadkari took a swipe at the Congress party, accusing them of altering the Constitution during the Emergency period in response to the Allahabad High Court’s decision against former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Accompanied by Chinchwad MLA Ashwini Jagtap and MLCs Uma Khapare and Amit Gorakhe, Gadkari emphasized that the BJP would never tamper with the Constitution of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, unlike the Congress party, which he claimed changed it for their own benefit. He criticized Indira Gandhi for modifying the Constitution following the court’s ruling against her, stating that the Janata Alliance government in 1977 had to reverse the changes made by Congress.
Addressing the crowd, Gadkari highlighted the traffic congestion issue in Pimpri Chinchwad and announced that flyovers worth Rs 80,000 crore have been approved to alleviate the problem. He stressed the importance of creating a network of roads to ease congestion in the city.
Gadkari also criticized Congress for failing to fulfill their promises of eradicating poverty, alleging that only the poverty of Congress activists and leaders had disappeared. He claimed that Congress’s policies had caused damage to the country and urged the audience to make wise choices. “For 75 years, Congress was in power but couldn’t eliminate poverty. India’s youth has immense potential, and with the right policies, it can thrive,” he stated.
The rally in Pimpri Chinchwad saw Gadkari highlighting the differences between the BJP and Congress, with a focus on governance, development, and the welfare of the people. As the election date draws near, the political discourse in Maharashtra continues to heat up.
