With the Maharashtra Assembly elections just around the corner, Pune city and district are gearing up for a smooth and peaceful polling day. A comprehensive security plan has been put in place to ensure the safety of voters and maintain law and order.

To oversee the security measures, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma are leading the preparations. A total of 600 police officers, 6,800 police personnel, and 1,750 Home Guard personnel will be deployed on polling day. Sensitive polling stations will receive additional security from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Central Forces, and specialized personnel.

CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic locations to enhance surveillance and monitor any suspicious activities. Prohibitory orders have been imposed around polling station areas to prevent any voting malpractices, and strict action will be taken against violators, as warned by Police Commissioner Kumar.

Home Guard personnel will be stationed at all polling stations, and video surveillance will be conducted to ensure a safe voting environment. Quick Response Teams have been instructed to respond to any incidents within 5 to 10 minutes to maintain peace and order.

Since the enforcement of the election code of conduct, the police have taken action against 1,700 individuals with criminal records to prevent any disruptions on polling day. Crime Branch teams, led by Additional Commissioner Shailesh Balakawade and senior officers Nikhil Pingle, Ganesh Ingle, and Rajendra Mulik, will patrol various parts of the city to maintain security.

In Pune city, deployment highlights include 11 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 22 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 64 Police Inspectors, 311 Assistant Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors, and additional security forces at sensitive polling stations. In the Pune district rural areas, there will be 2 Additional Superintendents of Police, 9 Sub-Divisional Officers, 35 Police Inspectors, 287 Sub-Inspectors, and units of Central Forces and SRPF to ensure a smooth voting process.

Authorities have reassured the public of their commitment to a secure, fair, and transparent election process in Pune city and district. With these comprehensive security measures in place, voters can cast their ballots with confidence on polling day.
