The silence period has begun as people prepare to head to the polls tomorrow for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. However, in a shocking turn of events, NCP-SP leader Chandrakant Tingre was attacked in Pune’s Vadgaonsheri Constituency yesterday.
Tingre, who had recently joined the NCP-SP after rebelling against Mahayuti, was in his car with his driver when they were ambushed by two unknown individuals who pelted their vehicle with stones. The car was damaged, and Tingre sustained minor injuries, prompting his immediate hospitalization.
Bapusaheb Pathare, the official NCP-SP candidate for Vadgaonsheri Constituency, swiftly responded to the incident, condemning the violence and emphasizing the importance of peaceful dialogue in the political arena. He vowed to stand up against such attacks and ensure that democracy prevails.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav confirmed the attack and stated that an investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators. As the election draws near, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for civility and respect in the electoral process.
