Hey Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad folks, brace yourselves for a slight hit to your wallets as Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) has decided to up the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the area. Starting from November 21/22, 2024, the cost of CNG will be increased by Rs. 2.00 per kilogram, bringing the new retail price to Rs. 87.90 per kilogram.

The reason behind this price hike? Well, it all comes down to the rising costs of natural gas inputs. MNGL has had to rely more on imported Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (R-LNG) to meet the growing demand for CNG, which, as you can imagine, doesn’t come cheap. Despite this increase, CNG still remains a more cost-effective option compared to petrol and diesel, offering savings of around 48% and 25% respectively for passenger cars, and 27% for autorickshaws.

So, while the price hike may pinch your pockets a bit, it’s good to know that CNG continues to be a smart choice for both personal and commercial transportation. MNGL is simply making adjustments to manage rising costs and ensure a stable supply for all you CNG users out there. So, keep on cruising in your CNG-powered vehicles and enjoy the savings while you can!
