The election season has coincided with the wedding season, and it seems like florists and flower farmers are having a busy time. According to a florist, five years ago, elections were not as extravagant as they are now. But this year, they have been making large garlands for leaders like the Congress candidate in Bhor and the BJP candidate in Pune.

The trend of using massive garlands has given a boost to the market and has been beneficial for farmers. Social media has played a significant role in promoting this trend, with many politicians and party workers sharing photos and videos of these floral tributes. Across the district, nearly 100 large garlands were created for various parties this year.

The flower business has seen a significant increase in sales, with wholesalers selling over 30,000kg of flowers. The head of the flower section in Gultekdi Market Yard, Dadasaheb Kade, mentioned to the media that there has been a 10-15% increase in sales during the election period. It’s clear that as the election season comes to a close, the flower business has been one of the major beneficiaries of the political fervor.
