If you were in Pune on Saturday, you might have noticed a colorful and vibrant procession making its way through the streets. That’s right, it was the 58th Annual Rath Yatra organized by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission to commemorate the 145th birth anniversary of saint Sadhu Vaswani.

The yatra kicked off at 5 PM from the Sadhu Vaswani Mission and wound its way through the bustling streets of Pune Camp before wrapping up at the Mission at 8 PM. The highlight of the event was the rath, a custom-made chariot resembling a spaceship, with a lifelike statue of Sadhu Vaswani and a standee of Dada J.P. Vaswani. As the procession covered a 5-kilometer route, devotees joined in, chanting, singing bhajans, and spreading messages of compassion and harmony.

Didi Krishna Kumari, the Head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, led the yatra, handing out prasad to participants and spectators. The procession also featured colorful floats, devotional music, and two key halts—at Pudumjee Compound and Kohinoor Hotel—where recorded talks by Dada J.P. Vaswani were played to inspire the crowd.

During these stops, Didi Krishna passionately spoke about Sadhu Vaswani’s teachings, stressing the importance of love and compassion for all living beings. She also urged people to observe Meatless Day on November 25, promoting a vegetarian lifestyle for better health and world peace.

One participant, Bina from Mauritius, described the experience as “a soulful journey that spiritually uplifted me. It’s an out-of-the-world experience.” The Rath Yatra in Pune is an annual tradition that not only celebrates Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday but also spreads his message of universal love and compassion. The procession typically lasts about three hours, passing through notable landmarks such as Council Hall, Poona Club, Babajan Chowk, and Aurora Towers before returning to Sadhu Vaswani Mission.

Sadhu Vaswani was a revered saint known for his advocacy of animal rights and non-violence as crucial steps toward achieving global peace. The Sadhu Vaswani Mission continues to uphold his legacy by spreading his teachings and principles.
