The state excise department in Pune recently canceled the permission to serve liquor during a concert scheduled at Kakade Farm. This decision came after objections raised by MLA Patil, who believed that the event could disrupt the area’s culture and lead to significant traffic issues.

Patil stated, “Such shows are not part of the city’s culture. This will create a major disturbance for residents of the area. The event will also cause traffic jams. Hence, I have urged the city police commissioner to cancel the programme.”

In a separate incident, Punjabi music star Diljit Dosanjh made adjustments to his popular songs “Lemonade” and “5 Taara” during his Ahmedabad concert as a response to a notice from the Telangana government advising against performing songs with references to alcohol, drugs, and violence.

During the concert, Diljit humorously mentioned, “There’s some good news. I didn’t get any notice today. There’s more good news: I’ll not sing a single song on alcohol today either. Ask me why? Because Gujarat is a dry state.” The singer, who does not drink alcohol himself, suggested that he would stop singing songs about alcohol if all states declared themselves dry states.

Diljit also had a strong message for his critics, warning them not to mess with him during his Ahmedabad performance. The cancellation of the liquor permit for the Pune concert has brought attention to the ongoing discussions around cultural norms, public safety, and individual expression in entertainment events.
