IITM Pune is making waves in the world of weather monitoring with its latest expansion of the Disdrometer network. The institute recently installed its first Disdrometer in the Himalayan region, marking a significant milestone in India’s meteorological capabilities.
The inauguration of the installation was a momentous occasion, with Airport Director Dhirender Singh leading the ceremony. Joining him were key officials from IITM, including Dr. Kaustav Chakravarty and Harikrishna Devisetty, as well as IMD Official Vipan Sharma.
This move is part of IITM’s larger vision to establish a nationwide network of Disdrometers, allowing for a more in-depth study of precipitation microphysics across different climatic regions.
