The hills of Pune have become hotspots for crime in recent times, with incidents ranging from gang rapes to muggings. Just last week, a college girl fell victim to a brutal gang rape near Bopdev Ghat, leaving the city in shock. And that’s not all – incidents of muggings have been reported at Baner and Vetal Tekdi, adding to the growing concern for safety in these areas.
In response to these alarming trends, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has taken action to step up security measures at these locations. Increased patrolling will be conducted to deter criminals from targeting innocent victims, and bright lights will be installed at popular hill spots such as Vetal Tekdi, Hanuman Tekdi, Warje, and Pashan-Baner Road to improve visibility and ensure the safety of citizens who frequent these areas.
With these new initiatives in place, residents of Pune can breathe a little easier knowing that steps are being taken to make their city a safer place to live and visit. Let’s hope that these efforts will help to curb the rising crime rates and restore a sense of security to the city’s hills.
