- Leo, the brave and dedicated police dog, helped Kondhwa Police Station in a major drug bust on December 28, 2019. The Nigerian national was caught with 50 kg of cannabis and MD drugs in the Kondhwa area. Talk about a good boy doing his job!
- Leo wasn’t done yet! On August 31, 2022, he assisted Loni Kalbhor Police Station in seizing a whopping 70 kg of cannabis from a field. Leo was on a roll when it came to sniffing out illegal substances.
- Leo wasn’t just a one-trick pony, though. He regularly conducted inspections at various locations, including railway stations, bus depots, and Yerwada Jail. This helped prevent the smuggling of narcotics and kept our streets safer.
- Not only did Leo assist in drug busts, but he also shared his skills with others. He trained Indian Army personnel and students in schools, showcasing his expertise and earning the admiration of many.
- Unfortunately, Leo passed away due to an esophageal illness. His final rites were held at the Pune Municipal Veterinary Crematorium near Pune Railway Station. The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and other police officials.
- The police department is deeply saddened by the loss of Leo. He was not just a police dog but a beloved member of their team who will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Leo. You truly were a hero in every sense of the word.
