So, it seems like the Maha Yuti is riding high on their success in the State Assembly elections, with the BJP, NCP (AP), and Shiv Sena all on board for conducting the long-awaited civic elections in Pune. The atmosphere is definitely buzzing with anticipation as all eyes are now focused on the upcoming polls.

The civic administration has a huge task ahead of them to plan and prepare for the elections, which have been delayed for over 2.5 years. With the term of corporators in the Pune Municipal Corporation ending in March 2022, the Municipal Commissioner has been in charge as the state-appointed Administrator, leading to complaints from local leaders about governance.

The ruling combine is eager to hold the civic elections soon, before any shifts in public opinion. However, the OBC reservation issue remains a hurdle, with multiple petitions in court regarding the quota in local bodies. Until a ruling is made, the elections cannot move forward.

Despite the obstacles, there is hope that the polls could be held within the next six months if the Centre and State governments assure the court of necessary actions. The process may take some time, especially with changes in the structure of the civic election system and the formation of a new civic body for Fursungi and Uruli Devachi villages.

Overall, the road to the civic elections in Pune is filled with challenges, but with the determination of the Maha Yuti and the support of the government, it seems like it’s just a matter of time before the polls are finally conducted.
