Today in Alandi, the sacred Rathotsava of Mauli was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. The event took place on Kartik Vadya Dwadashi and saw the participation of thousands of devotees and Varkaris. The highlight of the celebration was a 150-year-old Sheesham wooden chariot crafted by Narasimha Saraswati, which was paraded through the streets of Alandi amidst chants of “Mauli Mauli.”
Over 3.5 lakh devotees from various parts of the state have gathered in Alandi to take part in the ongoing 728th Sanjeevan Samadhi Day ceremony of Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. The week-long observance, which began earlier this week, will conclude on Sunday, 1st December.
The festivities kicked off with the Dwadashi Mahapuja conducted under the guidance of village provincial official Anil Daunde. A series of devotional programs followed, including Kakda Bhajan, Mahapuja on the chariot, Mahanaivedya, Kirtan, and Dhuparati. The Rathotsava culminated in a grand procession at the Muktai Mandap, drawing a massive crowd.
Prominent personalities such as Balasaheb Arphalkar, temple priests Amol Gandhi and Avadhut Gandhi, and trustees of the Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Devasthan were in attendance. The Rathotsava started at Shri Krishna Temple with the raising of saffron flags and proceeded through various key locations in Alandi before returning to the temple.
The 728th Sanjeevan Samadhi Day will be observed on Thursday with a range of religious events, including Abhishek, Dudharti ritual, devotional sessions, Kirtan, Aarti, and Gantanad. Varkaris have been seen performing bathing rituals at the banks of the Indrayani River, adding to the spiritual ambiance of the celebration.
Overall, Alandi has transformed into a hub of spirituality and tradition during this grand celebration, with devotees coming together to honor the revered saints and partake in the rituals and festivities.
