Pune witnessed a significant event on 28th November 2024, as Prof. Ulhas Bapat, a well-known academician and senior Constitutional Law expert, praised India for being the only thriving democracy among nations that gained independence after World War II. At the 75th Constitution Day celebration organized by Suryadatta Law College in Bavdhan, Prof. Bapat credited India’s success to its Constitution, framers, judiciary, Election Commission, media, and the people. He highlighted that while other democracies collapsed within five years of independence, Indian democracy has thrived for 75 years.

The event, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President, and Chairman of Suryadatta Education Foundation, included an interactive session by former District Judge Mr. Umesh Jawalikar, who emphasized the practical application of law in daily life. Prof. Bapat also discussed the Indian Constitution’s 75 years, types of democracies, democratic governance, and the framers’ contributions to shaping modern India.

Attendees, including students, faculty, and guest speakers, pledged to uphold the Constitution’s fundamental duties and inaugurated the Constitution Club at Suryadatta Law College. Winners of the Panel Discussion and Elocution Competition were also honored during the celebration, which was attended by Mrs. Snehal Navalakha, Mrs. Ketaki Bapat, Mr. Arif Shaikh, Dr. Anand Gaikwad, and other staff and students from various Suryadatta institutes.
