Hey there, folks! Big news coming out of Purandar taluka in Pune – the long-stalled international airport project may finally be moving forward thanks to newly elected MLA Vijay Shivtare. After five years of delays, Shivtare is pushing for expedited land acquisition through voluntary purchase, taking a cue from the successful model used for the Samruddhi Highway.
Shivtare, who has been a staunch supporter of the airport project, recently won re-election and is determined to address the concerns of project-affected farmers. With the Directorate General of Civil Aviation approving the original airport site, Shivtare is hopeful that fair compensation through voluntary purchase will help ease tensions with farmers in the seven affected villages.
But that’s not all – Shivtare is also eyeing the establishment of an IT park on 1,400 acres of nearby uncultivated land, aiming to create job opportunities for local youth. The airport project, initially announced in 2018, has faced numerous hurdles, including opposition from citizens and the previous MLA.
Despite the setbacks, the state government has appointed the Maharashtra Airport Development Authority to oversee the project, with efforts being made to transfer it to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation for land acquisition. The Adani Group has shown interest in financing the ₹5,000 crore project, with a proposal for voluntary land purchase already submitted to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Shivtare emphasized the importance of fair compensation and clear communication in addressing farmer concerns, stating that these efforts are crucial for the success of the airport project. With plans for a multimodal logistics hub also in the works, it looks like Purandar taluka may soon see some major developments on the horizon. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
