Hey Pune peeps, have you been facing issues with your Vodafone Idea services? Well, one customer from Baner sure did, and he took matters into his own hands by approaching the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission. And guess what? He won!

The consumer panel has directed Vodafone Idea to pay Rs 50,000 as compensation to the customer for providing him with 2-G service instead of the promised 4-G service from January 1, 2018 to August 3, 2022. Not only that, but the telecom firm has also been asked to refund the remaining amount to him.

The Commission President Anil Javalekar and Members Sarita Patil and Shubhangi Dunakhe didn’t stop there. They also ordered the company to pay Rs 10,000 compensation and Rs 3,000 for the expenses incurred on the litigation.

It seems like the customer, Chandrashekhar Joshi, had been facing issues with the company’s services for quite some time. Despite his complaints, the company did not address them properly. Even after admitting their fault in an email, they failed to take corrective actions.

To add insult to injury, the company didn’t appoint a nodal officer as mandated by TRAI and failed to provide the customer with the compensation and reduced bill as promised. Instead, they changed his plan without informing him and closed his complaint abruptly.

But justice prevailed when the consumer panel stepped in and issued the order against Vodafone Idea. Now, let’s see if the company implements the order within the given 45 days, or face a fine of Rs 500 per month. Stay tuned for more updates on this interesting case!
