- PMC’s Project Department Conducts Structural Audit of Pune Flyovers: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s project department recently completed a structural audit of various flyovers in the city, including the Hadapsar and Sadhu Vaswani flyovers. The audit revealed the need for repair and maintenance work on these structures.
- Original Plans of Flyovers Unavailable: When the PMC requested the original plans of these bridges from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), they were found to be unavailable. This led the PMC to hire an independent consulting company to prepare new plans for the bridges.
- Repair and Maintenance Work Underway: The repair and maintenance work on the bridges is currently underway, with a focus on filling cracks and replacing bearings. Yuvraj Deshmukh, chief superintendent engineer of the project department, stated that repairs of seven bridges in Pune are in the final stage.
- Proactive Maintenance Efforts: The PMC is committed to ensuring the safety and longevity of the city’s bridges through proactive maintenance and repair work. Hydraulic jacks are being used to lift the bridges for the replacement of bearings, as part of the ongoing efforts to maintain the infrastructure of Pune.
- Consulting Firms Appointed for Structural Audit: The municipal corporation appointed consulting firms to conduct a structural audit of 40 bridges in Pune. Based on the audit findings, maintenance and repair work is being carried out to address any issues identified during the assessment.
