The incident took place in a posh society in Kalyani Nagar on the evening of 28th May, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. The case was promptly registered at Yerawada Police Station, leading to the arrest of the 22-year-old culprit from Kalyani Nagar. Karve, who hails from Kinhai, Koregaon Taluka in Satara, was charged under IPC Section 381 for theft by a servant.

According to the police, Karve managed to land a job as a house help in the upscale society and gradually won the trust of the residents. However, her true intentions came to light when she made off with gold and silver ornaments weighing 260 grams, amounting to a staggering Rs. 13,36,800. Acting on a tip-off, the cops tracked her down to her village in Koregaon Taluka and brought her to justice.

During interrogation, Karve spilled the beans and admitted to not only the Kalyani Nagar theft but also another one in an area under Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, where she swiped ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakhs. In total, the police managed to recover gold worth Rs. 17,11,800 from her possession, putting an end to her thieving ways.

This successful operation was carried out under the supervision of top police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Vijay Kumar Magar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yerawada Division) Vitthal Dabade. The diligent team from Yerawada Police Station, led by Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, along with the Detection Branch, played a crucial role in cracking the case.
