Hey Pune peeps, it looks like the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is cracking down on road maintenance! The PMRDA has just handed over the responsibility for fixing up a whopping 148 kilometers of roads to contractors within their jurisdiction. This move is all about holding these contractors accountable for the quality of the roads they’ve built.

The PMRDA has even gone so far as to publish a list of all the roads covered under this new agreement, so there’s no escaping responsibility for the contractors. If any road issues are reported and not promptly fixed, these contractors are in for some serious trouble.

Dr. Yogesh Mhase, the Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA, is not messing around with this directive. He’s made it clear that contractors will have to handle all repairs and maintenance during the defect liability period, which can last anywhere from three to five years. If you spot any dodgy road conditions, you can report them on the PMRDA website and expect quick action to follow.

PMRDA has been on a road-building spree since 2019, with 148 kilometers of roads already developed across various talukas. Haveli, Shirur, Purandar, and more have seen major improvements, with a total of 92 road projects completed so far.

Contractors are now on the hook for road improvement, widening, and concreting during this liability period. If any issues crop up, these contractors better be ready to foot the bill for immediate repairs. Looks like PMRDA means business when it comes to keeping Pune’s roads in tip-top shape!
