The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) recently had a shocking incident at the Aundh-Baner Ward Office. Two clerk typists, Sumit Rajendra Chandere and Prashant Shivajirao Ghadge, were arrested on charges of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to Rs 25,000. The duo allegedly demanded a bribe from a 70-year-old complainant who had filed an application for property taxation. The complainant approached the Maharashtra State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after being asked for a bribe by both Chandere and Ghadge. The ACB conducted an inquiry and caught the accused individuals red-handed after accepting the bribe money. A case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amol Tambe has urged the public to report any instances of bribery or corruption by contacting the Anti-Corruption Bureau Pune office through various channels provided. The investigation into the matter is ongoing under the supervision of Police Inspector Atul Bhosle.
