Are you a Pune resident with unpaid electricity bills? Well, mark your calendars for Saturday, 14th December, because the Pune District Legal Services Authority is organizing a special Lok Adalat where you can settle your arrears with significant discounts.

Over 40,000 cases of unpaid electricity bills that have led to permanent disconnections in the Pune Zone will be addressed during this event. Additionally, 122 cases of electricity theft will also be up for resolution.

The PD Amnesty Scheme 2024 is here to help consumers who lost electricity due to unpaid bills. Eligible consumers can avail of a 100% waiver on interest and late fees, only needing to pay the principal amount of their dues. Those who pay in a lump sum will receive additional discounts of 10% for low-voltage consumers and 5% for high-voltage consumers.

Furthermore, consumers can opt to pay 30% of the dues upfront and the remaining 70% in six interest-free installments. They can also apply for new electricity connections as needed.

In addition to arrears settlement, the Lok Adalat will mediate 122 cases of electricity theft under the Electricity Act, 2003. Consumers resolving these cases will receive discounts of 10% to 15% on the billed amount.

It’s important to note that electricity distribution companies have the legal right to recover arrears from new property owners or occupants, even if the ownership of the premises has changed.

MSEDCL is urging all consumers with disconnected electricity connections to participate in the Lok Adalat to clear their dues, settle criminal cases, and get their power supply reconnected.

This initiative not only provides a chance for consumers to clear their dues but also works towards resolving disputes related to electricity theft. By participating in the Lok Adalat, consumers can ensure a fresh start and contribute to a smoother functioning of the electricity distribution network in the region.

Don’t miss this opportunity to settle your electricity arrears with discounts at the Lok Adalat on 14th December. It’s a chance to start anew and get your power supply reconnected.
