Pimpri Chinchwad Police have busted a fraudulent scheme operated by individuals posing as call girls to extort victims. The victim, Kiran Namdev Datir, tragically took his own life due to the pressure of ‘sextortion’. Six suspects from Kolkata, West Bengal have been arrested in connection with the case.

The accused would deceive individuals into parting with their money by listing the names of call girls nationwide on Google and falsely claiming to provide their services. They would then engage with the victims using voice-changing mobile devices and edited photos obtained from social media profiles for sextortion via WhatsApp.

The police conducted raids and detained the accused, seizing smartphones, voice-changing mobile devices, SIM cards, debit cards, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and notebooks with a total value of Rs 4,84,000. Charges have been filed against the accused under various sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act of 2000.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey and involved several police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal. The team’s efforts led to the successful dismantling of the fraudulent scheme.
