Hey there, Pune folks! Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping challenge coming your way this December. The iconic Sinhagad Fort is all set to host the first-ever Everesting competition in India from December 13 to December 15, 2024. Organized by the Maharashtra Tourism Department and Simple Steps Fitness, this event is a must-attend for all fitness enthusiasts.
So, what exactly is Everesting? Well, participants will have to climb Sinhagad Fort a whopping 16 times via the ghat road to match the elevation of Mount Everest – that’s 8,848 meters! If that sounds too intense, you can opt for the “Half Everesting” challenge, which involves completing eight climbs. And for those looking for a more relaxed experience, there’s the Midnight Fun Run/Walk under the full moon.
Ashish Kasodekar, the founder of Simple Steps Fitness, expressed his excitement about bringing this global phenomenon to India. He believes that Sinhagad’s historical and natural beauty makes it the perfect setting for such a challenging event.
The base camp and starting point for the competition will be at the Patanjali Atmabodh Wellness Center. During the event, Sinhagad’s ghat road will be closed to regular traffic, ensuring a safe and uninterrupted experience for participants. Route support, food, medical aid, and transportation back to the starting point will be provided after each ascent.
Deputy Director Shama Pawar from the Maharashtra Tourism Pune Department highlighted the significance of this event in promoting fitness and putting Maharashtra on the map for hosting innovative sporting events. The competition is expected to attract both local and national participants, boosting tourism in the region.
With multiple categories to choose from, including Full Everesting, Half Everesting, Midnight Fun Run/Walk, and Sunrise Fun Run/Walk, there’s something for everyone. Registration fees range from ₹999 to ₹5,999, with early bird discounts available. Participants will receive T-shirts, goodie bags, medals, and hydration support, with trophies awaiting successful finishers.
The organizers have also planned health workshops at the base camp, ensuring an educational aspect to the event. Safety measures, including first aid and medical support, will be in place to guarantee a smooth experience for all participants.
Entries are pouring in from across Maharashtra and other states, with a diverse group of participants expected to take on this unique challenge. So, lace up your running shoes and get ready to push your limits at the Sinhagad Everesting competition. For more information, reach out to [email protected] or call +91 77740 11055.
